BG (Ret.) Becky Halstead Named As 2021 National Women’s Hall of Fame Inductee
By: Thayer LeadershipCongratulations to Brigadier General (Retired) Becky Halstead, Thayer faculty, who is an incredible leader, trailblazer, and true leader of character and competence. She will be inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame for the Class of 2021.
During her 27-year career in the U.S. Army, BG Halstead achieved many historic milestones:
- First woman in U.S. history to command in combat at the strategic level when she was promoted to senior Commanding General for logistics in Iraq
- First woman graduate of West Point to attain General Officer ranking when she was promoted to Brigadier General
Her commitment to excellence, knack for storytelling, and passion every day in the pursuit of developing leaders is admirable and we are so grateful to have BG Halstead on our team.

BG Halstead will be inducted alongside many extraordinary women, including Octavia Butler, Joy Harjo, Indra Nooyi, Emily Howland, Katherine Johnson, Michelle Obama, Mia Hamm, and Judy Chicago.
