Aram was a U.S. Army officer for 21-years with three deployments to Afghanistan. Commissioned as an Infantry officer, he served in leadership positions ranging from platoon leader, company executive officer, battalion staff, and company commander, in austere environments such as the Mojave Desert, the Alaskan arctic, and the Australian rainforests.
During his military service, Aram returned to West Point and taught Negotiation for Leaders, Human Resource Management, and Military Leadership within the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership. He co-founded the West Point Negotiation Project designed to enhance the ability of military leaders to engage in the complex and challenging negotiations they face in both peace and combat situations.
During his final deployment to Afghanistan, Aram directed the engagement cell for the counter corruption staff section for the International Security Assistance Forces headquarters. He advised five general officers on more than 200 key leader engagements and negotiations dealing with issues of corruption, governance, and contracting.
Aram served as the Public Affairs Officer for 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) leading media operations center during Exercise FLINTLOCK in Chad, Africa. His final assignment was at the U.S. Air Force Academy teaching various courses, directing leadership programs, and creating an integrated, cross discipline leadership development curriculum.
After retiring, Aram became a Clinical Professor at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. At Tuck, he serves as faculty director for the Business Bridge Program for undergraduate students, and the Next Step program for Veterans and elite athletes transitioning to corporate America. He is a Senior Affiliated Trainer with Vantage Partners in Boston, and co-hosts the weekly NEGOTIATEX podcast aimed to help leaders elevate their influence through purposeful negotiations. Aram also lectured in the Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University for several years.
