THAYER TURNS 10!

By Dan Rice, Tuesday, May 19, 2020

Ten years ago, Thayer was developed with a vision to create a premier leadership institute at West Point for corporate executives.  Alongside Rick Minicozzi, Bill Murdy, Tim Tyson, and Karen Kuhla McClone, we are honored to celebrate this milestone.

Over these past 10 years, we have partnered with some of the largest organizations in the world to help them create leaders of character.  We’ve also evolved our customized programmatic experience to better meet the needs of our clients.  In our early years, organizations had to come to West Point for the Thayer experience.  Now, with unparalleled offsite programs, Thayer Online’s state-of-the-art content and course offering, and a variety of virtual engagements, we are able to cascade the Thayer experience and deliver it around the world.  Here are some of our achievements over the last 10 years:

  • Worked with 394 unique organizations; over 1,623 programs reaching 90,656 future leaders
  • Earned an average Net Promoter Score of 9.5 out of 10.0
  • Delivered programs around the world - in 31 states plus the District of Columbia, 1 U.S. territory, and 11 countries
  • Delivered coaching one to one and delivered keynotes to over 1,000 senior executives

One of the most impactful moments in Thayer’s history occurred in May 2016 at General Electric's Crotonville campus when we conducted a video-teleconference with the International Space Station (ISS).  Thayer Leadership brought something to GE that they said was one of the most impactful events in decades - we delivered leadership lessons from space to our clients thanks to Colonel (Ret.) Tim Kopra. At that program, we went from a global company to an intergalactic company!

Over these 10 years, our partners, staff, faculty, and clients have all experienced major life milestones: military graduations, retirements, weddings, births, and, unfortunately, deaths. We lost our partner, Fred Malek (USMA 1959, WPAOG Distinguished Graduate Award) in 2019. Our staff and faculty have grown exponentially, we’ve experienced incredibly low turnover and we’ve leveraged the positive impact hiring veterans and military spouses can have on an organization.  The Thayer team has really become a family through the years and we are honored that you’ve shared some of your personal milestones with us.

Thank you all for being a part of our journey with us.  It has been rewarding to partner with so many amazing organizations across a multitude of industries to deliver on our mission to build leaders of character “the West Point way”.

Hooah!
